Promotion » Why do people care about the personal lives of celebrities?

Seriously, this is something that just baffles me about people. As opposed to most people I still like Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson because I enjoy a lot of the movies they are in. This even applies to people who aren't famous (but pretend to be) like Kate Gosselin. I seriously can't stand that woman. Or like when Christian Bale yelled at that dude on the set of Terminator: Salvation, then actually apologized for it. I don't believe he should have apologized for anything.
