I reckon there's actually very little interest in new albums by this generation of musicians. There's always a big fuss when, for example, McCartney puts something out and whilst his last one got good reviews it was in Woolies for £2 within 6 months.* Davies would proably get a six-figure sum for this and he's holding back a couple of tunes for the 'proper' release to the few thousand hardcore who'll buy it as a matter of course. Plus, watch sales of Kinks 'best ofs' shoot up the Amazon chart on the week afterwards.
